RIP - Arnold Skaaland

WWF/WWE Legend Arnold "Golden Boy" Skaaland had died. What a class act "Arnie" was. He was always around during my years with the company. However, I know his health recently took a turn for the worse. He was a cornerstone of McMahon Inc. Unfortunately, many of the younger fans and indy wrestlers as well, don't even know who "Annie" is. Use GOOGLE, and sit under the learning tree.
Rest In Peace My Friend.

RIP - ERNIE "The Cat" LADD

Ring Legend Ernie "The Cat" Ladd passed away during the night last evening. "The Cat" battled cancer for a number of years. Although I followed Ernie's career since I was a teenager, I first met him early on in my WWF years in the Dallas Airport. He came up behind me and I kept hearing... "Percy Pringle... Percy Pringle... Percy Pringle..." I turned around looked up and there he stood. We talked for a long time and have been friends ever since. He was a regular at our Gulf Coast Wrestlers Reunion. In fact, the photo below was taken at our Mobile Reunion in 2005. May he rest in peace in the arms of our Saving Lord. Our thoughts and prayers go our to his wonderful family.

The photo above was also taken in 2005, in Las Vegas at The Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion. I'm "hamming it up" with Ernie, and former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jack Brisco.

Be Blessed.

GSW news...

Hello my friends,
To say that The GSW Training Center's first graduating class was a success would be an understatement. The graduates of 2006 are now wrestling on the Gulf Coast independent scene, and continuing to sharpen their skills three days a week at our school.

It is now time for the class of 2007 to begin. On Sunday, March 25th, at 2:00 PM, we will swing open our doors for an open tryout and beginners seminar searching for talents to see if they have what it takes to join the ranks of professional wrestling.

The cost is $50, which will be fully deductable from your tuition if you decide that our training facility is for you. We will also have a drawing from those in attendance for a paid in full scholarship (a $1,500.00 value).

This will be an afternoon that you don't want to miss, especially if you have always dreamed of becoming a wrestler, manager, valet, or referee. You may call The GSW Office at 251-459-4231 for more information, or email us at:
GSWTrainingCenter@GulfSouthWrestling.com

We are also excited to announce that ring legend Les Thatcher will be returning to the area in June with his full 3-day professional seminar. This will be a once in a career chance for area professionals to take their careers up a notch or two. Just ask somebody you know about Les' recent visit to our Training Center. Watch for all the details coming soon!

Be Blessed!

Another Reunion In The Books...

The 16th Annual GULF COAST WRESTLERS REUNION came to an end late yesterday (Saturday) afternoon, marking yet another successful history making professional gathering. "Kayfabe" still lives at our annual reunion, and I make it a habit of never releasing any details about who was there, or our activities. It is not a fanfest, and as a member of the board of directors I do what I can to continue the tradition of our private event. However, I will write briefly about one award, that being The Horizon Award.

This is the second year we have presented the Horizon Award; and it was my honor to announce who was selected by secret ballot at last year's reunion to become the 2007 honoree. This award is unique in the fact that the recepient is selected by the members of our reunion who actually work in the independent scene.

"The Old School Assassin" John Saxon was the winner this year. I knew that John has always been a big Danny Hodge fan, and it was my pleasure to arrange his award to be presented by the legend himself (see the photo above).

John has certainly paid his dues and his peers certainly made the right decision this year. I consider John a friend, and I am proud to book him on many of my GULF SOUTH WRESTLING events.
The Reunion set a new record Friday night, in the fact that we had more in attendance than all of the past 15 Friday night events. Ring legends were every where. I wish every man had the opportunity to rub shoulders with his heroes that are now his friends, that describes my position within the GCWR. I can't wait until next year!

Have a great week.
Be Blessed!
